ROLE OF INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY IN WAREHOUSE PRACTICES IN PAKISTAN.

Abstract

Purpose: Major aim of this research was to identify the Role of technology in warehousing practices in Pakistan and highlighting the factors which influence the warehouse operation or practices. Warehouse is the main channel of any supply chain of the organizations. Methodology/sample: The research study involved use of questionnaire to gather the data from the respondents and also conducted the limited interviews of different warehouse managers. The sample size is the 200 respondents who filled the questionnaire. The respondents belong to the different companies’ warehouse operations, departmental stores. To analyze the data, Factor analysis, SPSS were applied. Data are analyzing the factors which affect the warehouse practices in Pakistani environment. Findings: The analysis is extracted the Factors which are important for the role of technology used in warehouses. Due to highly competitive business environment, companies were looking for automated systems of warehousing which saves the time and labor cost. The study extracted the two main factors of warehouse practices is the Inventory management and the warehouse controlling system which was the key to get success in the business operations. Practical Implications: The outcomes of the study might help the companies to automate their warehouse and get benefits of technologies. Technologies implementation is not big issue, it has the huge initial cost of installations but also have the uncounted benefits. Technologies provide the facilities to the operations and make efficient.
