dc.description.abstract The marine industries of Pakistan are established just after the existence of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan in the world map. It is one of the oldest industries in Pakistan, as Pakistan is located at the coastal side through Sindh and Baluchistan. At the initial time this industry was not formally regularized. Industry was only small scale fisheries industry. No formal fish harbor and fish processing zone was established. After 10 years of the establishment of Pakistan a fish harbor was constructed at Karachi, Pakistan in 1958. Government found a potential in the industry of fish because the environment of Pakistan is supportive for the fish industry and many individuals were engaged with their families in the fisheries industry. Government has then put their consideration of this industry and with the passage of time this industry has moved to the export oriented industry. Government’s policies related to the marine fisheries of a developing country like Pakistan are highly essential for the success of fisheries industries. Their policies are mainly focused on the areas related to linking the protein gaps as to enhance the supplies of marine fish for domestic and international consumption, to produce employment, to increase the economic well-being of the fishermen and to get more foreign exchange by the export offish. In Pakistan full attention is being given to reach the last objective, that is, the earning of foreign exchange, which has enabled government to develop the marine fisheries industry as an export-oriented one. For attaining above objectives, policies are framed under the guidelines of federal government and provincial government. Under provincial government, province of Sindh and Baluchistan take place as they are the province from which the sea touches. Details laws have been made for the management of the fisheries industries. At Federal government level policies are aimed to achieve in the training of the fisherman, improvements in the technology of boats, safety precautions, modernization of the overall structure etc. At provincial level rules and regulation have been made for the detail guidance for the fishermen the people associated with the fish industries. en_US
