dc.description.abstract This research work has taken account of different criminal defences by means of which the persons alleged with penal charges can defend themselves. However, the main focus here is on the doctrine of “plea of Alibi”. Plea of alibi is one of the different criminal defences available in Criminal Law and is one of the most highly practiced criminal defences. This research paper has examined the concept of Plea of Alibi from different dimensions. Firstly, it has discussed the practice of Plea of Alibi in International Criminal Law and secondly, it has critically analyzed the way it operates in Pakistani Criminal Law. The central argument made in this research work is that “in Pakistani Criminal Law the Plea of Alibi is considered as the weakest plea until and unless it is supported by strong, authentic and convincing evidences”. The same argument has been analyzed in the light of different case-laws and legal statutes. en_US
