dc.description.abstract Humans have been involved in conflicts from time immemorial. Many legal instruments have also been drafted and implemented ever since. The research will reveal the role of the two main organs of the United Nations i.e. Security Council and General Assembly in maintaining international peace and security. The Security Council has been granted the primary responsibility to maintain international peace and security by means of International Law. While, the primary function of the General Assembly on the other hand is to consider and make recommendations on the maintenance of international peace and security. These powers and functions of both organs have been enshrined in Charter of the United Nations. The United Nations is the result of collective efforts of the states to make the world a better place. The fact that it has been quite active in dealing with issues faced by humanity does not constitute to it being a success story but rather how effectively has it dealt with those issues successfully. en_US
