dc.description.abstract A research study was carried out to understand and analyze the problems of internally displaced persons in Pakistan due to the armed conflict prevalent in FATA. Although, there are other IDPs who are caused to be displaced due to natural disasters but they are not a part of this research due to the word count limitation of this study. By through journals, newspaper articles, e-articles, legal instruments and relevant material available on the internet a thorough research has been conducted. The findings of this study are rather depressing since the IDPs are facing multitude of problems. They are not being provided with adequate facilities such as food, clean water, privacy, security, education etc. Moreover, they also suffer from trauma and mental stress. There are no counselling services provided to them. The disaster management authorities are neither competent nor well equipped with the necessary sources implement the four stages of preparedness, response, recovery and rehabilitation, and reconstruction. There is no special legislation for the protection of IDPs rights in Pakistan. Neither is there any such specific convention or other legally binding instrument in international law. Thus it is the need of time to develop a legal framework protecting the rights of IDPs. en_US
