Web Based Portal and hardware Clustering (P-0040) (MFN 2852)

Abstract

Bahria University today is a multi-campus university with its headquarters at Islamabad. Bahria University has campuses in Karachi, Lahore, and Islamabad. Bahria University has more than four thousand enrolled students, two hundred full time faculty members, and many more administration staff members. The university manages student, faculty and staff information manually in registers. It makes it very difficult to store, manage, and update valuable information pertaining to attendance, marks, faculty evaluation surveys, announcements, permission based discussion portals, assignment submission, lecture repository, course registration workflows, fee portal, and many more things. In an attempt to automate the mentioned purposes we present a flexible portal and content management system based on Microsoft Office Sharepoint Server 2007. This web portal will act as a centralized medium for university students, faculty and management to interact, share information, and manage crucial information regarding day to day university functions. It will allow teachers to upload handouts, assignments and quizzes for their students and similarly the students will be able to access all these things and can also upload their assignments. Using this portal teachers and management can make announcements which will be accessible to the university depending upon the permissions granted to them. This portal will efficiently automate information management and sharing fast, reliable, and affective within the university network.
