| dc.description.abstract | This thesis contains the study of 2D seismic reflection data interpretation of selected seismic lines of Amirpur Area, Potwar Sub-Basin, Pakistan, for delineation of subsurface structures favorable for hydrocarbon accumulation. Amirpur Area is situated in the Chakwal district of Punjab province. The data comprised four seismic lines, base map and well tops of Amirpur Well 01. Two reflectors were marked that were identified as Top Eocene (Chorgali Formation) and Khewra Formation (potential reservoir) along with faults and basement. Using the velocity windows, iso-velocity contour maps were drawn. And by manually picking reflector time, two way travel time contour maps were generated using computerized contouring which utilizes the minimum curvature algorithm. The TWT contour maps were prepared for both reflectors. After that, using time to depth conversion, depth contour maps were generated which gives the clearer picture of the subsurface structure. Finally the subsurface structure was discussed as potential hydrocarbon reservoir and recommendations were presented. | en_US |
