| dc.description.abstract | The purpose of this dissertation is to understand the concept and steps for performing 2D seismic interpretation and petro physical evaluation. To fulfill this purpose, a specific area of Sind Province was selected where petroleum exploration/drilling had reportedly been attempted earlier by Premiere Oil in 1995. Migrated seismic lines were provided by Directorate General of Petroleum Concession (DGPC) for seismic reflection data interpretation along with well logs for the selected well “Badar South-01”. Prominent reflectors were traced and marked which provided us with well tops for stratigraphic horizons of the area. These were then correlated with wire-line logs and well data and named Habib Rahi, Sui Main Limestone, Basal Sands and Chiltan Limestone. The discontinuation and breaking of these reflectors in different places are believed to be fractures/faults. These have been traced and extended following their direction of throw. Structural interpretation classifies their genre as Normal Faults. Time Contour Maps are generated afterwards which help to show the highs and lows of the area thus give a schematic description of the topography. These time sections were converted to depth sections with the help of average velocity which assisted in reasoning for the basic mechanism of tectonic movement in the area. Petrophysical evaluation of Badar South-01 was done to test the formations for the presence of hydrocarbons. This integrates the selection of zone of interest followed by Log Interpretation. Volume of shale, sand and porosity is calculated. | en_US |
