Visualization of Data Engine (P-0535) (MFN 2976)

Abstract

The project, “Visualization Of Data Engine” is an online resource that can be used to represent the huge amount of data coming from multiple sources (primarily Twitter and Google) in a graphical way called infographics and to construct a resource that can be used to see online trends and data occurrence. Abstract: VOD Engine will enable user to search any term and see the “occurrences” of that particular term during a particular period of time at a particular place on world map. This term will be searched from a huge pool of data coming from multiple sources but primarily Google and Twitter are being used. Also, VOD Engine will enable users to see the trends related to the term searched. The primary objective, however, is to come up with an online “data relationship display resource” that can be used to explore the untapped area of visual data relationship. We will be able to see the relationship between data in a graphical form so that it will be very easy for user to explore and experience the search in a total different way. This project has a very vast scope and is being designed on a modular basis so it also has the capacity to be extended to add more features later on. The domain of this project is highly diverse as it can be used in multiple ways. On an abstract level, this online resource could be used by businesses across the world to look at the world’s online trends. One of the core objectives of this project is to present data in a graphical way and because of the complex nature of this objective, the team has contacted two of the international leading designers working on this field. The VOD Engine has been inspired by a TED Talk on YouTube by David McCandless entitled “The beauty of Visualization.” The project has also been inspired and fueled by derive to make the online data more visual so that it would make more sense.
