Abstract:
Communication is an important ingredient of the modern civilized society. Technology has shown the world a very beneficial picture of the communication channel and services related to the sector in every field. Communications include primarily telephonic services, internet, post mail and other channels through which people communicate over distances. Over time, it has evolved into a very sophisticated set of networking channel which connects people around the globe. Pakistan primarily had Pakistan post as a major means of communication and has been used in the same regard, the same way. Pakistan Post is a state enterprise dedicated to providing wide range of postal products and public services in Pakistan. It is the largest postal service in the country. Its motto is "serving everyone, everyday, everywhere". Part of the joint Department of Posts and Telegraph of the Ministry of Communications since 1947 (now Ministry of Pakistan Post), the Post Office started operating under the modified Post Office Act no. VI of 1898. The Office of the Postmaster General became operational at Lahore from 15 August 1947. In 1948, it issued its first postage stamps, a set of 4 commemorating the country's independence. In 1959, an "All-up-airmail" scheme was introduced by which all letters were airlifted between Stations on the air network. Today the institution operates in a much larger capacity with almost 58000 employees nationwide and has the most sophisticated distribution network in the country.
