Abstract:
An employee orientation is designed to introduce new employees to the job, personnel, and the organization, and help the new employees to establish the relationships in the organization. Research has been done on telecom sector of Pakistan to illustrate the impact of orientation is today’s competitive market of employee in terms of effectiveness and productivity. This study was designed to investigate employees’ views regarding effectiveness of orientation program. A survey questionnaire was developed for the purpose of this study and filled by 150 employees of Mobilink, Telenor, and Ufone. The results obtained from the participants were tabulated in figures for brief discussion. Analysis is done by calculating the mean score for each component of the questionnaire. Majority of the participants agreed that orientation help them in various ways. The survey results provide evidence that going through orientation process enhances employees’ efficacy, commitment, and productivity. The results also illustrate that orientation has significant impact on employees’ intention to stay in the organization.
