dc.description.abstract The study area is located in Kadanwari Gas Field situated in Khairpur district, Sindh Pakistan. Geologically the study area lies in Middle Indus Basin and comprises of both structural and stratigraphic traps along with a complete petroleum system. Structural interpretation of six migrated seismic sections followed by generation of time and depth contour maps, revealed the presence of vertical to sub-vertical strike slip faults in the area that give away y-shaped splays in the Lower Goru Formation. To determine the hydrocarbon prospects in Lower Goru Formation, petrophysical analysis of two wells i.e. Kadanwari-03 and Kadanwari 10 has been done using a complete suite of wireline logs. The results of petrophysical analysis delineated E-sands as the major reservoir zone of interest in the area with good porosity ranging from 0.1 to 0.5 and low volume of shale. Finally, a trace model was generated using well logs of Kadanwari-03 by making use of AVO analysis techniques. The trace model thus generated confirmed the presence of gas in hydrocarbon bearing zones that were marked in E-sands using petrophysical analysis techniques thus proving E-sands as the prospective gas bearing reservoir zone in area. en_US
