Abstract:
A study area has been selected for field development studies and static reservoir modelling of the Chorgali and Sakesar Formation. The Meyal oil Field is located in the periphery of Northern Potwar deformed zone (NPDZ) and structurally appears as an open anticline on the surface. The purpose of this research is to identify hydrocarbon prospective areas, study of reservoir compartmentalization and properties distribution through integrated reservoir characterization study. The data for this project include a set of 2D seismic data over Meyal area in SEGY format, sets of log data. The seismic interpretation of the study area indicates that Meyal is a gentle anticline bounded by thrusts. Static reservoir modelling/characterization is crucial step in field development studies. The grid developed during static reservoir modelling is further used in reservoir simulation studies. Static reservoir modelling integrate structural, stratigraphic, petro physical and lithological characteristics into one integrated model. Stratigraphic model is constructed through fine scale stratigraphic well correlation. Structural model is constructed using interpreted horizons. Stratigraphic and structural models are combined into one gridded model. Petro physical, lithological and facies models are constructed from detailed petro physical analysis. Structural, stratigraphic, petro physical, lithological and facies model is integrated to form field scale static reservoir model using geostatistical techniques. Porosity, water saturation and hydrocarbon saturation are derived from conventional petro physical analysis. These petro physical properties are populated in stratigraphic model to construct petro physical model. Lithology and facies are analyzed using cluster analysis techniques. Interpreted lithology and facies are populated into stratigraphic model. This gives us facies model.
Integration of structural, stratigraphic, petro physical and facies model gives detail information about stratigraphy, petro physical properties distribution and facies distribution in the field.
