dc.description.abstract MissaKeswal oil field is located at a distance of about 60 km in the south-east of Islamabad in the eastern part of Potwar basin. This field was discovered in June 1991 and came on regular production from December 1992. Geographically Missakeswal is located on longitude of 73o58”East and latitude of 33o 2”North. The main purpose of this thesis is to evaluate the structure and hydrocarbon potential using seismic and well log data. The targeted formation are of Eocene age. Some major thrust/reverse faults were also identified along these formations. Time, depth and velocity contour maps of Chorgali, Sakesar and Lockhart formations are generated which confirm the pop-up anticlinal structure in the subsurface and is acting as trap for hydrocarbons.Crustal shortening analysis has also been performed on the depth section which indicates a compressional regime.Rock Physics and geo-mechanics cross-sections have been generated to understand the distribution of elastic properties across the study area.Petrophysical analysis have been carried out to delineate the source, reservoir and seal formations and calculate their hydrocarbon potential. Finally seismic modelling and attribute analysis have been done for further confirmation of interpretation. en_US
