Abstract:
This study is on the trend of trade in South Asia. We have studied the pattern of trade among the eight countries of South Asia which are Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Bhutan, India, Maldives, Nepal, Pakistan and Sri Lanka. We have studied during this project that how much these countries are trading with each other and what is the share of intra regional trade in the total trade of these countries. It is found out that despite being one of the largest regions of the world, South Asia is economically poor and intra regional trade is negligible. Of the total trade of these countries, just 5 percent is intra regional. South Asian countries need to enhance cooperation and increase trade within the region. This will result in improved economic conditions and more harmony in this region.
