| dc.description.abstract | The study area Dhulian is located near Pindi Gheb in the eastern Potwar, Upper Indus Basin, Pakistan. The area lies in the compressional regime and has complex thrust faulting. The Dhulian surface structure is an almost symmetrical anticline with maximum dips of 30°to 35°. This fold axis trends ENE-WSW and plunges about to 4°–5°at both ends, running en-echelon to the nearby Khaur fold. Dhulian fold is flanked by Soan Syncline to the South and by the tight Pindi Gheb syncline to the North. Dhulian is one of the major producing fields of Pakistan. The foremost objective of research is mapping of subsurface structure, locating the prospect zones and reservoir characterization. In order to conduct the research, seismic interpretation along with advance techniques i.e. velocity inversion and seismic attribute analysis is performed. Seismic structural interpretation marked the anticlinal trap for hydrocarbon accumulation. Chorgali, Sakesar and Lockhart are prospect reservoir formations. Seismic attribute analysis also supported above seismic interpretation. Velocity inversion is performed to estimate the porosities, which gave good porosities in the reservoir zone. Reservoir characterization is done through Petrophysical analysis. Based on log trends, two reservoir zones of 5.1m and 3.5m thickness were marked in Sakesar and Lockhart Formation respectively. Both zones have favourable characteristics for hydrocarbon exploration. | en_US |
