to have a competitive edge over others. To achieve this competitive advantage they bring in new products and services or introduce new management techniques but today almost all of the organizations have come to realize that the most important asset that any one of them has got is their human resource because it is the human resource that actually is behind the innovation, effectiveness and efficiency of productivity of any organization. In order to achieve superiority over the competitors or just simply to compete with them, an organization must fully utilize the potential of its human resource and create such an environment for them which enable them to perform better. Keeping the employees satisfied with their jobs can be one of the major contributors towards their better performance. An employee can be made satisfied with the job in many ways, which include pay, work environment, job security, etc. Training practices also have a positive on the job satisfaction which will ultimately lead to improved employee performance. For this reason the organizations must invest in its human resource, to equip them with proper knowledge, skills and abilities, one such way of doing so is to provide training to the employees. The training can be on the job or off the job. On the job training consist of job rotation and job enrichment, off the job training includes seminars, workshops and computer based training. When an organization conduct training of the employees it enhances their skills, their knowledge about the products and the organizational culture and as such results in them being satisfied with their jobs which ultimately lead to improved performance. The study conducted will be the analysis of how the training practices i.e. on the job training and off the job training impact job satisfaction and employee performance in the telecom industry of Pakistan i.e. Ufone, Mobilink and Telenor.
