License Plate Recognition System using Image Processing (P-0567) (MFN 3594)

Abstract

License Plate Recognition is a technique that allows a computer-based system to automatically detect and read the license plate number of a vehicle from a provided digital image. They can be used for various purposes some of which include, access control, parking fare calculations, payment of tolls or parking fines, traffic control, security clearance etc. A lot of work is done in this field in the past; however most of it applies to specific conditions for applicability. The algorithm is better than other algorithms which fulfill the same purpose. It has an efficient strategy to find the license plate region in a still image and then it finds alpha-numeric characters in license plate area.
