dc.description.abstract | Petroleum is the most important energy source which is heavily count today for its product in order to carry out routine work. To run our cars, factories and house hold problems everyone needs natural gas, gasoline and diesel etc. Research by Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Resources Pakistan shows that hydrocarbon energy consumption of Pakistan was 80% in 2009 (Fig. 1.1). Petroleum based chemicals are also used in other fertilizer, lubricant, plastic and wax industries. Now the world economy depends on the hydrocarbon because energy demand is fulfilled by the petroleum exploration. Increasing demand of petroleum and money involved in it, boost the petroleum sector. Many scientists develop technologies for exploration and geophysical well logging is one of the most important and advanced technique used today for exploration and evaluation of the hydrocarbon reservoirs. In Pakistan the petroleum exploration was start more than a century ago and first well was drilled near oil seepage in Kundal area of Mianwali (1866). The first commercial achievement came in 1915, with the drill of khaur-01. After the independence, Pakistan’s first discovery was Sui gas field. After the commercial success of Khaur oil field companies shows interest in potwar basin and developed more than a dozen oil and gas fields e.g. Toot field, Dhurnal oil field, Dhulian oil field, Mayal oil field. Joyamair is also one of the old oil field of the potwar basin was drilled in 1944. | en_US |
