dc.description.abstract | The study area is located in Khairpur district of Sindh province. Tectonically, the area lies in extensional regime and is normally faulted hence horst and graben structures are found. The main objective of this study was to analyze the structure of the area, to identify seismic reflectors at Sui Main Limestone, top Lower Goru and Chiltan levels, to generate time and depth contour maps and to evaluate the hydrocarbon potential of Fateh-01 by using wire line logs. For this purpose eight seismic lines of the area and well data of well Fateh-01 were obtained from Director General Petroleum Concessions (DGPC). Time and depth contour maps of Sui Main Limestone, top Lower Goru and Chiltan formations were generated. Five normal faults were marked having E-W trends. Seismic attributes analysis was performed to find out direct hydrocarbon indicator. Petrophysical interpretation has been made with the help of wireline logs of the well Fateh-01, Bitrisim area, Lower Indus basin, Pakistan. SP log, resistivity log, density log, sonic log, neutron log, gamma ray log and caliper log were used. The rock parameters which have been used for petrophysical interpretations are shale volume, total porosity, effective porosity, water saturation, hydrocarbon saturation, and permeability. Petrophysical interpretation shows that the Lower Goru Formation cannot act as a reservoir in Fateh-01 because it has very low effective porosity and permeability (average effective porosity 7.76% and average permeability is 0.50 md) which confirms the fact that Fateh-01 well was a dry well. Moreover, instantaneous amplitude analysis showed no direct hydrocarbons indicator. | en_US |
