| dc.description.abstract | Living in a world that is aspiring to reach the epitome of technological advancement in every field, but the question remains: Where to park the car at? As the progression in the vehicle industry is taking place, it is a dire need to find advance means to accommodate these vehicles. Over the years it has become a challenge for both the planners and builders to manage the parking spaces to curtail traffic congestion; it asks for a well-managed parking system that ensures efficiency and smart utilization of available space. Our project aims to create a more assistive system for an automated parking lot that is time saving and more effective as compared to the conventional manual system that is inefficient and prone to creating nuisance. The project is designed to develop a density based parking availability indication system. The parking availability is shown upon sensing the vehicle at the entry point through IR sensors. Signals from IR receivers are fed to the microcontroller to monitor the availability of parking space through the LEDs on the display unit installed at the entrance. Empty slot is indicated by the LED as well as verbally. Our system uses Arduino Mega 2560 Micro-controller as its brain that implements automatic indication for parking. The use of Micro-controller in the parking systems is a distinct idea. The usage of this processor evinces the intelligence of the system. Upon entrance the car will be guided towards the vacant slot by the system. The LCD will tell which slot is vacant. The system is designed for covered parking area where sensors and detectors can work efficiently. This system just focuses on the agenda that how could we possibly automate a covered parking lot with the help of optimum tools. The prospects of this system are bright as it can be extended to a lot of progressive arrangements by adding new features with the help of modern approaches and technologies. | en_US |
