dc.description.abstract The purpose of this thesis is to evaluate the structure and hydrocarbon potential by using the seismic and well log data of Pindori area, Upper Indus Basin, Pakistan. Pindori area lies near Chakwal District of Punjab region in the Potwar basin region of Upper Indus Basin Pakistan. The Potwar sub-basin is situated at the northern margin of the Pakistan in the western foothills of Himalaya. It comprises of the Potwar plateau, the Jhelum plain and the Salt Range. Pindori structure is thought to be enriched by potential hydrocarbon on the basis of structural and petroleum system studies. For seismic interpretation, five seismic lines have been obtained from the LMKR by the permission of DGPC. Reservoir was marked on seismic data by TD chart using average velocities. Time depth and velocity contour maps of Sakesar Formation were generated which confirmed the Pop up anticline structures in the subsurface. Rock physics is done to support the seismic studies. For petro-physical analysis, Sakesar Formation was marked. It is concluded that Sakesar Formation is a producing reservoir on the basis of effective porosity, Vsh and Sw. Sakesar Formation velocities calculated from well and seismic data are correlated by using Gardner’s and time average equation which gives out potential support to the economical zone. en_US
