Pakistan Railways Reservation & Ticketing System (Web & Network Development Module)

Abstract

In present era, due to the advent of Information Technology, and due to the massive growth in technology, it has become a key factors for organizations to update their businesses accordingly. Due to the immense interest shown by the Government, Pakistani organizations are also upgrading themselves accordingly. Pakistan Railways has been in the process of automating their Reservation & Ticketing System. Pakistan Railways contacted Comsats Institute of Information Technology CIIT for this purpose, and assigned the task to automate their Reservation & Ticketing System. To fulfill this task, CIIT hired us as internees. We have provided the complete solution for Reservation & Ticketing System which includes all aspects from network design, software to complete documentation of the system. Also the concept of online reservation has been introduced for user facilitation. All the work has been done using Oracle8i and its tools which makes it an Oracle based solution. For web, JSP/Java Beans have been used. In this way, all the aspects of the system are addressed.
