| dc.description.abstract | For the exploration of hydrocarbons, petrophysical analysis has been done in Dhodak-05 well, Central Indus Basin Pakistan. Dhodak-05 is situated about 80 km north of Dera Ghazi Khan. The coordinates of study well are 30˚54ʹ 40.84ʺ North, 70˚23ʹ 03.59ʺ East. In Dhodak-05 drilling has been done from Nari Formation of Oligocene age up to Pab Formation of Cretaceous age. Logging suits include caliper log, spontaneous potential log, spectral gamma ray log, computed gamma ray log, dual latero log, micro spherically focused log, neutron log, density log and sonic log from depth of 1950 m to 2443 m. Three prospect zones in Pab Sandstone have been marked on the basis of certain petrophysical parameters i.e. low SGR log values, high LLd values and neutron-density crossover. In zone 1 volume of shale is 9.15%, effective porosity is 5.72% and saturation of hydrocarbon is 56.00%. Zone 2 has volume of shale 11.71%, effective porosity is 6.14% and saturation of hydrocarbon is 44.07%. Zone 3 has volume of shale is 8.85%, effective porosity is 6.53% and volume of shale is 61.63%. Marked zones have low volume shale, effective porosity and fair hydrocarbon saturation. | en_US |
