Abstract:
This study , "Analysis of the investment in the textile
sector over the past three years - in the WTO perspectiven
has been car ried out by Zara Basharat under the supervision
of Sir Aurengzeb in order to fulfill the requirement BBA
(hans) degree , the report compromises a total of 55 pages .
And is being submitted on September 15 , 2004 .
The study i s descriptive in nature and has used secondary
data for analysis . It analyzes the present state of affairs
prevailing in he textile and clothing sector of Pakistan .
The study examines the challenges faced and the
opportunities available , especially under the WTO regime .
The role of competitors has also been analyzed . A number of
recommendations have been made to survive and grow . Foreign
direct investment could help. Focus should be on up
gradation of technology and value addition . Human resource
should be developed to provide highl y skilled workers , and
managers to the sector . At the government level , a fullfledged
Ministry of Textile Development has been created,
so that timely policy initiatives could be taken
development of the sector . Internationally recognized
accreditation should be obtained to make exports more
acceptable . The cost of doing business in Pakistan is too
high ; it has been recommended that this cost should be
significantly reduced , so t hat young e ntrepreneurs are
attracted to the sector
