Problems Faced by Windows and their Potential Rehabilitation

Abstract

A woman plays an important and significant role in the development of an economy. The economic structure need core participation of women to function smoothly. The nature of their role , participation and influence on nation ' s social and economic life makes it mandatory for the government to resolve their issues . Good supportive management for women makes it possible t o at t ain maximum productivity, profitability and efficiency . There is a strong positive relationship between women and economic development . Therefore , the topic under s t udy is very useful for resolving their issues , as widows s t and first in classification of problems faced by women . Thus, the need to highlight their problems arises and a true picture must be portrayed in front of the government and other welfare organizations . Widows in Pakistan face many problems due to which Pakistan is still way behind progression . This problem has encouraged the researcher to develop a study on their problems . Information was collected from various sources like government and semi government organizations , various NGOs , welfare organizations . Interviews were also c onducted to get a true picture of the problem . This study highlights problems like finance , education, health and other social problems . It is necessary that their problems should be properly addressed and a permanent solution to be cha l ked out. In the end a conclusion was drawn and certa i n recommendations were suggested in order to overcome thi s problem. Islamic laws must be implemented in its true essence. But at the same time examples must be set by the wel l -known re l igious and government personals to encourage marrying the widows . I slamic rules and regulations are not for being discussed in the mosques but to be acted upon by the religious figures . Islam is the only religion that safeguards the r ights of widows but its image is distorted due to the lack of awareness and imp lementation of Islamic laws in I s l amic count ries . The Holy Prophet (P . B. U. H. ) also enforces the first recommendation. Zakat system should be very effective and efficient . Government needs to improve its zakat system because most of the poor widows rely on zakat to meet t heir daily expenses. Women should be given technical, moral and religious education that will help them in leading a successful life and to secure their future .
