Abstract:
This project is about LAN setup of SS-CARE, which consists of 300 nodes.
There are 3 Student Labs, Research Lab, Library and Developers Lab. The requirement is
to provide Computer Lab facility to students and developers. Internet facility is also
required for students and developers of CASE, CARE and SS-CARE.
Wireless setup is also required within the campus to provide wireless access to faculty
members so that they are able to deliver lectures through laptops. CASE and CARE deals
with different wireless projects as well. So they required wireless setup to test their
projects.
So we designed and implemented LAN setup to meet their requirements and we
deployed wireless setup to provide wireless facility to faculty only and to test their
projects.
Main tasks included in our project is
• LAN Designing and Implementation
LAN Designing and Implementation involves Survey of architectural
maps, Designing, Hardware selection (Vendors Comparisons), Cabling and
Installation.
• Planning and Budgeting
It involves Project Plan and overall Budgeting I.e. Equipment cost, Labor
cost and other Miscellaneous costs.
• Wireless Setup Designing and Implementation
Wireless setup designing and implementation involves Requirements
gathering, Designing, Equipment selection (Vendors comparison) and
Implementation.
• Servers Configurations and Backup Policies
It involves configuration of different servers such as DNS, DHCP, FTP,
Web, Mail, Proxy and RAS etc. Trust relationship between CASE, CARE and SSCARE
so that users of these organizations are able to access their accounts from
any part of the building. Backup policies i.e. Incremental, differential or volume
backups, and RAID Configuration.
