dc.description.abstract | The purpose of present study was to investigate the relationship between Religious Coping Strategies and Psychological well-being of young adult Muslim population. For the purpose of analysis a sample of 300 participants was taken between the ages of 18 to 25 years, with mean age of 21.72 years. 150 males and 150 females were part of this research, belonging largely to upper middle class with at least intermediate level of education. Data collection was completed using a consent form, demographic information form, measures of Ryffs Psychological Well-Being Scales (PWB), 54 Items version (Ryff, 1987) and Iranian Religious Coping Scale by Abdulaziz Aflakseir (2011). Pearson correlation value exists at r = -0.092, /»0.05 for Religious coping strategies and Psychological well-being. After the analysis of results it was discovered that no significant relationship exists between religious coping strategies and psychological well-being. Deeper examination of the facets of Psychological well-being in relation to Religious coping strategies revealed a weak correlation with two facets of Psychological well-being, namely Personal growth and Purpose in life. Both these facets related negatively with religious coping (r= -0.133, p<0.05; r= -0.128, p<0.05). With remaining facets a neutral relationship was observed with religious coping strategies. A t-test analysis revealed that on the variable of Gender there were no statistically significant differences observed in relation to religious coping strategies and psychological wellbeing (/ = -0.179). Further facet level analysis yielded a similar pattern of Gender performance on the six facets of Psychological wellbeing where no statistically significant difference was observed for the male and female sample. Significant implications of the current research relates with developing an understanding of this rarely used population sample of young adults and their reliance on religious coping in times of stress. | en_US |
