dc.description.abstract | This research work is about the need for electronic filing of tax returns in Pakistan. Technology is having a profound impact on the world we inhabit and the ways we conduct our lives. Technology is affecting health care, financial markets, war, exploration, education, employment trends, sports and more.Taxes are a vital part of a country’s economy. They help build public infrastructures that help businesses and society to be more productive and better off. Right now there is no proper method of tax collection in Pakistan. This research study attempts to highlight the importance of electronic filing in making the tax collection system of Pakistan modern, fast and error-free. The research study explains how more and more taxpayers around the world are trading pencil and paper for modem and mouse. E-filing is fast, accurate, convenient, saves cost, time and makes taxes less of a headache. The main focus of the study is that e-filing is the need of the time to step into the modern world, but before that, the researcher examines that is Pakistan really in a position to successfully implement the highly advanced tax collection system? Does the high computer illiteracy rate in Pakistan allow for the introduction of a system that is entirely computer dependent? What needs to be done to cope with some potential e-filing problems before the system is brought into action? The research concludes with a view that the government and the tax authorities of Pakistan need to address the e-filing issues or else Pakistan would lose a lot of tax on the global e-commerce transactions. | en_US |
