dc.description.abstract We design and built an RFID-based proximity security system for use with Identification cards, which have been RFID-embedded as our final project. The idea for this project was generated with the enhancement of RFID technologies and the simultaneous occurrence of Cafeteria (Automatic Sliding Door). At the highest level, our battery powered transponder uses an antenna to transmit Data to the receiver; on the receiving end the battery powered receiver again uses an antenna to induce a response from transponder. In receiver data is amplified and forwarded to computer terminal through serial connection. In computer terminal data obtained from receiver through serial connection is processed by comparator function and results are obtained in the form of access denied or allowed. Educational topics explored in this lab include (but are not limited to) amplification circuits, RF antenna design, digital logic, serial communications, RFID theory, pin interrupts, timer interrupts, and soldering. en_US
