dc.description.abstract This report summarizes the project by describing the general theory for the wireless system’s and basic method used in Verilog HDL to develop the prototype. Some recommendations for the future work are also made. The aim of this project is to investigate the behavior of the Wi-Fi (Transceiver) to develop a prototype. Wi-fi is wireless networking - the ability to connect to a network or PC using radio (as opposed to network cabling). It's faster and has a greater range than Bluetooth, and is ideal for home or office connectivity. Using a wi-fi setup with your PDA or laptop means that you can share a broadband or dialup Internet connection, swap files, or share a printer or CD ROM between computer users. In this project, the Wi-Fi Transceiver is implemented using Verilog on Spartan 2 FPGA. The Wi-Fi transceiver is the hardware that acts as a Wi-Fi AP (Access Point). It is being able to transmit and receive data after being properly authenticated and associated. Data Frame according to the Wi-Fi frame format is being modulated and undergoes CRC (cyclic redundancy check), then the frame is received on the same SPARTAN-2 (i.e. no wireless connection in this project), data is being demodulated and again undergoes CRC to validate its reliability. en_US
