| dc.description.abstract | This research was initiated after receiving authorization to extract data from LMK Resources by DGPC for acquiring migrated seismic lines and well logs of well Joyamir-04 of Chakwal. The rationale of the study was to estimate and investigate the seismic velocities behaviour in subsurface. By using the techniques such as the interpretation of seismic sections, petrophysical and rock physical analysis respectively, it was concluded that the fault is a north dipping south verging fault which is followed by small back thrusts caused by the continuing force coming from the Indian plate towards the Eurasian plate and the fractured Carbonates of the Chorgali and Salt Range formations are thus producing reservoirs. The thrust faults in the area show that it was deformed by compressional tectonic movement thereby salt decollement. Chorgali Formation has fairly good porosity ranges from 20 to 30%, low water saturation and high hydrocarbon saturation. Vp/Vs, Bulk modulus shows the presence of limestone in the Chorgali Formation and high shear modulus shows the presence of fractured carbonates. | en_US |
