| dc.description.abstract | This research was initiated after receiving authorization to extract data from LMKR by DGPC for acquiring migrated seismic lines & Well logs of well CHAK NAURANG-01 of CHAKWAL. The rationale of the study was to estimate and investigate the seismic velocities behaviour in subsurface. By using the techniques such as the interpretation of seismic sections, petrophysical and rockphysical analysis respectively, it was concluded that the fault is a north dipping south verging fault which is followed by small back thrusts caused by the continuing force coming from the Indian plate towards the Eurasian plate and the fractured Carbonates of the Chorgali and Salt Range Formation are thus producing reservoirs. The thrust faults in the area show that it was deformed by compressional tectonic movement thereby salt decollement. Chorgali formation, have fairly good porosities ranges from 12 to 14% , high water saturation and low hydrocarbon saturation. Vp/Vs, Young Modulus, Bulk Modulus shows the presence of limestone in the Chorgali formation and High Shear modulus shows the presence of fractured carbonates. | en_US |
