dc.description.abstract | The well logs of Meyal 12 and 14 in the Upper Indus Basin, provided by the DGPC are used for the petrophysical analysis to assess Hydrocarbon prospects in reservoir rocks. The well logs utilized for the study included Gamma ray log, Sonic log, Density log, Neutron log and Resistivity log. The studies furnished different reservoir parameters that included Volume of Shale, Total Porosity, Effective Porosity, Permeability, Water Saturation, Hydrocarbon Saturation and Bulk Volume of Water. The formations studied for their reservoir potential include Sakesar Formation in Meyal 12 and Murree Formation, Kohat Formation and Kuldana Formation in Meyal 14. In Meyal 12 the values of Permeability 27.76 (millidarcy), Volume of Shale 19.88%, Total Porosity 8.18% are concluded as having the potential in zone 1 i.e. Sakesar Formation of Eocene age. In Meyal 14 the values of Permeability 25.01 milidarcy, Volume of Shale 24.31%, Total Porosity 19.1%, and Hydrocarbon Saturation 53.69% are concluded as having the potential in Zone 2 i.e Murree Formation of Miocene age. In Meyal 14 the numeric values of permeability and hydrocarbon saturation in Kohat and Kuldana Formation manifest a lower potential reservoir as compared to the Murree Formation. | en_US |
