dc.description.abstract Kandra field block (Block 2768-6) covers an area of about 456 km2 and is situated in the northern region of the province of Sindh. It is located in the Khairpur and Sukkur districts. The main purpose of research was to generate a depositional model for Sui Main Limestone (SML) by using seismic and well data. Seismic lines KDR89-01, KDR89-02, KDR89-03, KDR89-04, and KDR89-05 of Kandra block were obtained from LMK Resources for the purpose of seismic interpretation and well log analysis of Kandra area. Five Horizons were marked which were SML, Top Lower Goru Formation, Middle sands, Massive sands and Chiltan Limestone. Based on seismic data Major faults were identified, which extended through all these formations. TWT, velocity and depth contour maps were generated for these above mentioned horizons. Depth sections were constructed using cross sections of depth contour maps conforming the structural dome in the subsurface. Source rock is Sembar Formation in this area. Hydrocarbon traps were most possibly developed in these anticlines and are the prospective zones for hydrocarbon accumulation. Well log analysis was carried out on Kandra 01, 02 and 03 to identify reservoir area and evaluate the values for saturation of water, volume of shale, porosities present in the subsurface formation. On the basis of this analysis two probable hydrocarbon zones in SML and Chiltan formation were identified. The Chiltan Limestone is barren of hydrocarbon. Potential hydrocarbon reserves of SML using the volumetric reserves calculation technique were estimated and risk assessment was also carried out on the basis of available geological data and exploration data. Depositional model was generated on the base of available literature, geological, well and seismic data. Environment of facies were identified as facies modeling was also done in the research work. en_US
