Abstract:
Employee retention is an area of critical importance for employers globally and within
the specific context of Pakistan is a grey area due to the absence of formal policies and
procedures associated with it. A need based action is taken, which at times cannot be
taken due to organizational constraints. This project reviews the concept of employee
retention and applies it to the Telecommunications sectors of Pakistan, specifically for
the industry leader, i.e. Mobilink. A current review of the existing state of affairs sheds
light on the need for a new policy. The project reviews the role of the various
departments within the human resources division in employee retention and in light of the
organizational norms and culture suggests a policy for employee retention.
The study is descriptive in nature. Analysis is done based on a short questionnaire which
helped in providing a clear picture of what the employees think of retention at Mobilink.
Based on the literature review and on the information acquired from the organization, the
recommendations are chalked, thus a proposed formal retention policy for Mobilink.
