dc.description.abstract Karachi Stock Exchange is the largest stock market of Pakistan and is commonly known as KSE. Over the years the market has shown quite a volatile nature. In these ten years, it has generally shown a bullish trend; it has risen steadily with the exception of a few bumps. These include the slide of March 2005, bringing to light, several discrepancies in the market. By presenting an objective view of the history of the KSE, its recovery since 1998, the present market scenario, and its future prospects, this thesis seeks to provide evidence of the economic viability of investing in the KSE. A brief assessment of the investment alternatives within Pakistan are further provided to substantiate the feasibility of investing in the stock market. en_US
