Abstract:
This proj ect examines the implementation of and rationale
for
the
implementation
of
a
new
web-based
enterprise
resource
planning
application
that
replaced
a
locally
developed
information
system
at
the
United
Nations
Development Programme country of fice in Islamabad, Pakistan. Issues including the change and implementation strategy and possible causes of users' resistance were also investigated in terms of conceptual parallels in the current literature.
The proj ect provides an extensive review of relevant IS literature, academic models of ERP implementation, and various theories on the possible reasons for resistance to change within the organization. It further studies the impact this change had on work practices and discussed the findings of the research based on interviews and questionnaires. In the end the change which occurred in the organization as a result of implementation of Atlas is analyzed and recommendations were given.
