Abstract:
Considering the economic downturn in Pakistan, there is a vital need to empower women economically and to bring income generating opportunities to enable them to survive, prosper and provide support for their families. For the development of women-to-women business potential, women entrepreneurs require support in the form of training in strategic business development, access to credit funds, and assistance with marketing skills, product design and development. This report has tried to explain the importance of SME sector in Pakistan while the main focus will be on the women entrepreneurship in this sector. The report highlights the problems faced by women entrepreneurs mainly limited access to credit and in the end it discusses the prospective solutions like tax holiday and gift tax with action plan to implement these solutions. These solutions are not only helpful for policy making but also for those women who want to start a career and contribute to their own benefit and economic welfare of Pakistan.
