Abstract:
The Internet will remain a positive force in our society to the extent that people use this new technology in responsible ways. The present study is conducted to find the impact of Internet on the activities of female Internet users of Rawalpindi and Islamabad age between 18-25. The main objective of this study is to investigate the importance of Internet technology among the females of Rawalpindi and Islamabad and to see the impacts of Internet technology on the daily routine activities and on their life. The proposed study is to measure the changes in involvement with family, habits, working pattern and online shopping behavior. The areas from where the subjects are chosen are Bahria University, Islamabad, FG Post Graduate College for Women, Kashmir Road, Rawalpindi and residential areas (Satellite Town, Rawalpindi and I-8 sector in Islamabad). The sampling design for the study is the accidental sampling design combined with the purposive sampling design. Subjects whom are met first are combined with some selectivity to ensure that a certain type of subject is included in sample. The number of Internet users according to Pakistan Telecommunication Authority was 356,354 in four major cities. Among these 38,231 users are from Islamabad. The study is conducted on the female Internet users of Rawalpindi and Islamabad. The sample of the proposed study is 100 females who are using Internet. The data collected in
this research study is based on the primary source of information by distributing questionnaires to the selected sample as well as the secondary source of information. Descriptive analysis is the method for present research. This method uses descriptive statistics that is cross tabulation, percentages to analyze the impact of Internet technology on the activities of female users. Through the data collected to complete this research, one major conclusion have been recorded that the females have replied positively that there is a change in their several daily activities due to Internet. The 62% females feel that Internet had changed their TV watching activity, 48% said in reading newspaper. The result shows that the usage of Internet has a positive effect on 80% of the total and none of them feel negative effect. On the whole the data concludes that there is a positive impact of Internet over the lives of female Internet users.
