dc.description.abstract A literature search and different approaches focus on how the job design affects the employee’s productivity and satisfaction and motivation. The design of job consists of organizational, behavioral and environmental elements, each focus on different set of outcomes for productivity, motivation and employee satisfaction. The organizational elements focus on satisfaction of the employees in the work design which directly affects the productivity. All of these elements work on motivation of the employees in the work design. According to the job characteristic model, careful attention should be given to the core job dimensions( skills variety, task identity, task significance, autonomy and feedback) that shape the psychological states (experienced meaningfulness, experienced responsibility, and knowledge of results) and which determine the personal and work outcomes of employees. Job design is the foundation of employee satisfaction and productivity. Well design jobs play an important role in the success of the organization and employee satisfaction. Well design jobs are becoming even important in retaining and attracting employees and motivate work force to become capable of producing quality product and services. Making work more meaningful is method of motivating workers to improve their productivity as well as increasing their satisfaction. en_US
