dc.description.abstract | In the past few years it has been acknowledged that getting rid of the junk of old slow and nearly useless computer systems is becoming difficult day by day. Countries have started allocating heavy duties on import of used computers considering the fact that after a while those used computer systems will just add to the increasing entropy of the locale. For our final year project we have chosen to create an OpenMosix cluster. This project will be focused on a technology which has a software package that has the power to turn slow networked computers nmning GNU/Linux into a cluster. It automatically balances the load between different nodes of the cluster, and nodes can join or leave the running cluster without disruption of the service. The load is spread out among nodes according to their connection and CPU speeds. In a network cluster of 6 to 7 old otherwise scraped out working computers the over all performance of the cluster is easily comparable to the latest desktop systems. 5 | en_US |
