dc.description.abstract LED is the technology of new era and due to low power consumption and reliability LED has become quite popular in the world. It is a way of visual information where large LCD and other display become too expensive. At the time of this project there are a number of large LED display boards erected in some of the major cities of Pakistan, all of which have been imported from abroad. At the National Institute of Electronics the idea of starting the project was to develop an outdoor display board locally that worked successfully in the climates of Pakistan. Thus saving precious foreign exchange and introducing the technology to Pakistan. With the successful completion of the project the technology of developing the LED based display boards is transferred to Pakistan and new horizons are opened for the Pakistani Electronic industry in the field of LED technology. As a student it was a good opportunity to gain experience of working on an industrial level project. As is predicted it will change our local electronic industry therefore the experience will certainly be beneficial in the future. For my project I worked on the hardware portion of the main project, namely the FPGA programming, and its data forwarding to the display at the required speed and format. And another part of it was done in Matlab to process images to get the proper format that the FPGA uses to send to the display. en_US
