dc.description.abstract In today's competitive environment, the security concerns have grown tremendously. in the modern world, possession is known to be 91lO'ths of the law. Hence, it is imperative for one to be able to safeguard one's property from worldly harms such as is, destruction of property, people with maljcious intent etc. Due to the advent of ology in the modern world, the methodologies used by thieves and robbers for ing has been improving exponentially. Therefore, it is necessary for the eillance techniques to also improve with the changing world. With the provement in mass media and various forms of communication, it is now possible . monitor and control the environment to the advantage of the owners of the perty. The latest technologies used in the fight against thefts and destruction are &e video surveillance and monitoring. By using the technologies, it is possible to b~nitoarn d capture every inch and second of the area in interest. However, so far the Whnologies used are passive in nature, i.e., the monitoring systems only help in Y &rtecing the crime but do not actively participate in stopping or curbing the crime 3 while it takes place. Therefore, we have developed a methodology to detect the I motion in a video stream environment and this is an idea to ensure that the monitoring ~ysternsn ot only actively participate in stopping the crime, but do so while the crime is taking place. Hence, a system is used to detect any motion in a live streaming video and once motion has been detected in the live stream, the software will activate a warning system and capture the live streaming video. Motion detection and tracking is becoming more and more important in the security and military fields. It relies on high speed computation using image processing. This is why today, with the advances of technology, such applications have become possible more than ever before. Successful implementation requires an efficient interaction between hardware and software. There is a recent trend towards object tracking applications, such as surveillance or traffic control and management. Such applications require the use of unsupervised detection of events. By utilizing vision sensors (camera), massive amounts of image data can be collected and hence, used by image-processing algorithms to enhance the en_US
