The retention of skilled employees is the biggest challenge in the 21st century. Due to high growth of cellular industry in Pakistan, there is a retention problem. So for this reason, this study was carried out to find out the impact of HR policies on turnover intentions of employees in Ufone. Latter was chosen as it is one of the largest cellular companies of Pakistan. Research was confined to Ufone headquarters at Islamabad, where 35 employees responded to the questionnaire.
Descriptive research method was used to find out the relationship between turn over intentions and variables like pay, rewards and benefits, career progression, training and development and working environments. The study revealed that employees were not satisfied with some of the HR policies that can lead to turn over intentions. Most of the employees were not satisfied as far as career advancement and pay & rewards within the company are concerned. Also, when comparing with other companies, they were not satisfied. Majority showed satisfaction over training and development. As far as working environment is concerned, employees were satisfied with the overall working environments, relationship with the co workers and supervisors. They were also satisfied with the freedom they exercise in their own judgment and authority they enjoy while working in the company. HR policies such as pay package, promotion and rewards etc needs to be changed immediately in order to retain talented employees. |
