dc.description.abstract The main aim of this study is to discover the comparison between compensation and work environment on job satisfaction and to compare the effect of these two factors between the public and private sector of Pakistan. Two major contributing factors or dimensions to job satisfaction are compensation and work environment hence we derive that job satisfaction is denoted by compensation and work environment. Now these variables are not equally provided in the public and private sector hence a comparative analysis would help in better understanding the impact these dimensions of job satisfaction have on the public as well as the private sector of the country. The study will help in understanding which sector has better work environment as well as provides comparably better compensation which further lead to job satisfaction. The research would yield qualitative as well as quantitative results and the analysis would be conducted through a questionnaire that has been developed after studying various related questionnaires that were developed to measure job satisfaction in Canada as well as the US. The organizations that were selected for the study include organizations from both sectors and are well known. These organizations have been strategically selected in order to make the results more accurate. The findings of the study indicated a difference in the compensation between the public and the private sector where employees belonging from the public sector were provided with greater compensation as compared to private sector employees hence derived that job satisfaction from compensation is greater in the public sector as compared to the private sector. Dissimilar to these findings, the work environment provided at private organizations was better than the work environment at public sector organizations. Hence job satisfaction deriving from the work environment was higher in private organizations as compared to public sector organizations. Overall in the research when both sectors were studied and analyzed further using cross tab analysis on SPSS which helped in making findings more accurate and it was established that overall job satisfaction is more in the private sector organizations of Pakistan. en_US
