Abstract:
Workplace stress is thought to be an interaction between a person and their work environments
resulting in the awareness in the employees of not being able to cope with the demands of their
work environment, with an associated negative emotional response, Policy Journal: Workplace
stress and fatigue management (2007) The present research was about the impact of workplace
stress on employee performance. The research was a comparative study of Public & Private
sectors of Pakistan. The aim of the research was to find out what workplace stress is, and what
its impact on the employee’s performance is. To conduct the research both the primary as well as
secondary data was collected. For the secondary data, articles and researches on the internet
were consulted. The methodology used for this research is questionnaire containing 30 items,
based on Likert scale .Correlation and regression, moderated has been applied for data analysis.
Eight banks have been selected including National Bank of Pakistan , Habib Bank Limited, Bank
Alfallah, State Bank of Pakistan, Askari Bank, MCB, Al-barka Bank, Royal bank of Scotland(
RBS), Silk Bank From the research it has been concluded that the workplace stress influences the
employee performance negatively and the comparison concluded that in the working
environments of Pakistan the government employees are more stressed out than the private
employees with a higher impact of it on their performances and based on these results few
recommendations have been drawn.
