dc.description.abstract This study presents an overview of the existing selection and recruitment system, the available literature guide and its dynamics, implications and compatibility with the future army requirements. The current recruitment situation, the problem areas, socio-economic values effecting the profession of soldiery are the main discussion points. The study examines the soldier material assets, their social dumps, the effects of caste, creed, breed, and race, and the reasons of not considering these for the selection and recruitment in the Army. The efficacy of the existing system is questioned and the factors responsible for the inefficacy including all the negative vectors and the fault lines are highlighted. The study also suggests a methodology for an alternative approach towards an efficient and effective system for the selection and recruitment in the Army. Since the system structure is in place therefore, a minor effort would be required to streamline the selection procedures and get the maximum output. The review of the available literature indicates the silver linings and a hope for the better army of tomorrow. Maximum utilization of all the available resources can be the policy guideline for all the Army Selection and Recruitment Centers. The identification and removal of the fault lines which cause the negative vectors is the key for a smooth and efficient system .The induction of the soldiers into the Army and the method of selection of future leaders of men are the most sophisticated art, which has gone to the obscurity. There is a need for the revival of the art of selecting appropriate men and born professionals. The conceptual model will help finding answers to the most frequently asked questions and will bridge the gap between will and done. en_US
