Abstract

In the nineteenth century and particularly after World War-2, a huge industrial revolution started which brought about enormous changes in many areas of the modern day business. The area of agriculture, manufacturing, and transportation all came under heavy pressure. All these changes in the various sectors thus, had an extremely profound effect on the major socio -economic and cultural conditions of major world economies. The onset of the Industrial Revolution marked a major turning point in the social history of the human race. All this was in comparison to the invention and innovation of manufacturing methods that would eventually evolve into a competition. Furthermore, with the advent of the various new manufacturing technologies and new methods of management and performance enhancement, the companies started competing on the fronts of cost minimization, quality enhancements and effective marketing techniques. The introduction of steam power (fuelled primarily by coal) and powered machinery (mainly in textile manufacturing) underpinned the massive increase in production capacity.
