dc.description.abstract The project is about the geological and reservoir description of Margalla fold and thrust belts. In this report emphasis is mainly laid down on the location, geology, structure, stratigraphy of Pothwar plateau and its petroleum potential as Margalla fold and thrust belt lies towards the north of Kohat-Potbwar thrust belt. This fold belt is intensely deformed and tectonised with isoclinal folds and several verging thrust sheeths.Margalla fold and thrust belt is now refered as MBT.The stratigraphic sequence of this study area ranges from Protozoicto neogene whw'ere as Ordovician to permian sequence is largely missing. The source rock in our study area is mainly Patala Shale an d some shale within Lockhart, Chorgali and Sakesar Formations. The res~rvoir rocks in the area are Lockhan,Chorgali and Sakesar Limestone of paleocene? eocene age. Datta Sandstone, Samanasllck limestone of Jurassic age and Khewara Sandstone of Cambrian age. en_US
